Medium hard (AD) solid 2117-T aluminum alloy rivets are suited for structural fabrication and maintenance. Anodized plating protects against corrosion.
Specifications:MS20426AD series Flush Head Rivet . 100? countersink (A) . Solid 2117-T4 Aluminum Alloy
CERTIFICATION: We offer solid rivets in 1/4LB packages which are uncertified, and in 1LB packages that are certified. The difference is simply that the 1LB package (whose part number ends in "C") is guaranteed to preserve the manufacturer's LOT numbers; whereas the 1/4LB package may contain a mixture of 2 or more lot numbers and is therefore untraceable. Whether or not you need "certified" rivets usually depends on the nature of the job. Generally speaking, repairs do not require traceable rivets, but definitely consider using them when consistency is required for major sheet metal fabrications or repairs. It's also a good idea write down the manufacturer and LOT number in your maintenance logs for future reference.
How to determine rivet length
Measure the grip thickness of the section to be riveted (A B), and add to that 1.5 times the rivet diameter. Round result to nearest 1/16" to get length.
Example: A= .030, B= .250, Rivet Diameter (D) = .125 (1/8") Grip Thickness = A B= .280 Length (L)= .280 1.5*(.125)= .4675 Multiply by 16 and round up to find the nearest 1/16: Length*16 = 7.48 The correct length is a -7 (e.g. MS20426AD-4-7 for a 1/4lb pack or MS20426AD-4-7C for a certified 1LB pack).
